ADVENT APPEAL - Friends of the Holy Land.

www.friendsoftheholyland.org.uk/Appeal/christmas

Supporting Christians in Bethlehem where roadblocks have replaced Christmas trees in the streets and children search the sky not for stars but for war planes. Though Christmas celebrations may be cancelled in Bethlehem, our brothers and sisters there share our hope in Christ, which is very much alive. With your help, we can ensure that hope shines brightly through the remarkable Christians who continue to serve so bravely. Right now, our brothers and sisters are suffering, and they are scared. By supporting our Christmas appeal, you can help our local team to respond quickly and effectively to the unfolding catastrophe.

ADVENT APPEAL

This year, we will be supporting the Fareham & Gosport Basics Bank created by the Christian charity “Friends of the Homeless” in 2003).

Their aim is to provide short term practical support to anyone in a crisis or emergency situation who cannot afford to buy food. In the last 12 months they have provided parcels to last seven days for around 7000 people. This is over 200,000 items of food and toiletries.

Not only do they provide practical help, but they also;

• Encourage and assist homeless people in their search for accommodation

• Work in partnership with other voluntary and statutory agencies to continually improve and develop facilities for homeless people and those needing short term help in the local area

• Raise awareness of the problems the homeless and other vulnerable people have to face

For more info and an up to date shopping list of items they need, visit www.friendsofthehomeless.org.uk
